Happy Pancake Day {or Fat Tuesday USA}

Hooray for Pancakes! To celebrate the eat-a-thon that's about to hit Vivid HQ, I thought I would share with you todays illustration... as you can see, I'm a short-stack kinda gal! I'll be indulging with butter, syrup and some rainbow sprinkles for good measure :D How do you like yours?

So, I've been trying to think of something to do for for Lent ... giving up chocolate just seems a little bit silly to me these days. Mainly because I think that's a little bit insane ;) Do you give something up? Or do you take something up? For me it's about a daily challenge rather than a diet... but perhaps that's the most achievable route? With my illustration and photo a day projects on the go, adding to my daily routine as it currently stands is a little bit daunting! What will you be doing for the next 40 (46) days?

Any suggestions or worldly advice for how to stick to it?

  1. I saw 'Pancake Day' for the first time this weekend on the Pioneer Woman blog! Learn something new every day. Love love the illustration. I prefer waffles. With honey and peanut butter!

    1. It's the greatest :D Learning a new thing on each day is a great suggestion for 40 odd days too! Thanks so much for the illustration kudos - waffles are pretty spectacular but they're not as common in the UK. Just as well as I'd eat them all the time! haha! Mmm - I defo need to try that combo :B Thanks Allison!

  2. That waffle combo does sound good.. I keep it simple with my pancakes and add lots of butter and butter pecan syrup! I've never actually participated in Lent, but I think I'd give up fast foods (i.e. McDonald's, Burger King, etc)

    1. Oh my gosh! What is butter pecan syrup? That sounds freaking amazing!!
      Giving up fast foods is actually a great suggestion for us - we don't eat at McDonalds that often, but I get really lazy and get loads of microwave meals and ready made sandwiches etc all the time. Maybe it's more of a 'eat one homemade meal a day' *not including breakfast! hee hee

  3. I'm more of a crepe kind of girl. I made mine thick with chocolate though ;P I'll admit, I often forget what pancake day is about - using up the last of your ingredients to help along with fasting. But I'm not remotely religious so I always forget that fact and focus on the pancakes :P I've got too much on the go to add anything, and nothing I've got going can be pushed aside, either. But, I think it would be good to participate since I've already eaten the pancakes, so I'm going to attempt to force myself to work on my book solidly for the next 40 days. I've been struggling big time lately and haven't written properly in months.

    1. I'm not surprised about the chocolate Kim ;) hee hee!
      I'm really pleased to hear you're going to focus 40 days on writing - that's a really excellent goal. Perhaps a page a day and made a short story? It would be lovely to look back on it next year for inspiration if it goes well...
      Good luck!!

  4. I'm not particularly religious, so I don't participate in Lent. At least, not as an adult. Good luck with whatever you decide to give up!
