DIY: How To Make Mini Paper Lantern Table Lamps With Wine Glasses

With the nights closing in and party season approaching quickly, this week we thought we would share a super fast tutorial that will help set the ambiance and get you in the mood to spend time with your favorite people. 

Using just a wine glass, tissue paper, double sided tape and a tea light, you can dress up your dinner table with these super cute paper lanterns...

These little laps are really pretty and can be made in any colour and with any pattern, meaning they will look perfect no matter your theme. Itching to give it a go? Me too!

1) You will need: wine glasses, tissue paper, scissors, double sided tape, tea lights and cute paper pattern cutters. The last item isn't necessary if you want to hand cut your own designs in, you'll just need a pencil, scalpel and a cutting matt instead.

2) You'll need to work out the amount of tissue paper for each wine glass. The easiest way is to wrap a piece of rectangular tissue paper around the glass and fold where to trim. I started by wrapping it around the glass, tucking in the tissue paper at the top so I could work out the depth (you want to cover the whole of the glass) then folded the tissue back on itself so I knew where the sides met comfortably.

3) Gently lift off your tissue and lie it down flat. From here you can cut where all the fold marks are; try and make sure everything is straight, otherwise it may hang a little wonky. That's still cute though, so don't worry too much :) 

4) You'll be left with a slightly curved piece of tissue paper. Perfect! Give it a little iron if its really crinkled; make sure the iron isn't too hot and pop a tea towel over the top of it to make sure you don't burn the paper. When you're ready, use your paper patten cutter or your scalpel and cut out your design. The light will shine through really beautifully when the candle is light, so you can get really creative with it or even make each one a little different :)

5) Pop your double sided tape on one end of the curved tissue paper. Wrap it around the glass and tape together where the seams meet . If you have any excess tissue around the rim or down the side of the glass, give it a little trim and neaten it up. Lovely!

Good work! Doesn't your new table light look super cute? And it only cost a few pennies to make. Perfect! Now all you need is some friends and a nice dinner to go alongside it. After you've eaten and had a couple of glasses of wine, empty the glasses and pop in your tea lights. All light up and you'll be living the dream...
