Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL, Glasgow 2014
SQUEEE! Last night we got the chance to see one of our all-time favourite musicians and we are still walking on air... We got to see PRINCE!! So amazing!! David and I are both really massive fans, (I went through a pretty heavy Prince phase towards the end of art school!!), so when I discovered he'd made up with the record industry and decided to tour for the first time in forever I was dancing on the ceiling!
I tried to get standing tickets, but they all sold out within seconds... as did everything else! We were super lucky with my absurd persistence and I managed to bag two seating tickets, which cost me a lot more than I had planned, but in my excitement all sensibility went out of the window! We might have been way up high, but the energy and sound was so spectacular it didn't matter :D
Before the gig we all got an email from the venue to ask that we all came wearing purple - fortunately my fellow prince fan Debbie gave me a few days head start (she got to see him too!) so I had time to dye my blond hair light purple and get my polka dot dress, prince necklace and purple nail varnish ready. Well, when Prince asks you to do something, you should never say no! Even David wore purple!!
During the gig there was strictly no photography allowed - including phones which was immense. Its been the first time in over a decade I've been to a consort where everyone was paying attention and enjoying the show completely. Don't worry, Prince gave us a good few opportunities to take photos - which made it better because you didn't feel like you were missing anything! I hope this catches on - I certainly enjoyed it more because of it!
I wasn't sure how many of his classic hits he would play (and I didn't want to look up earlier set lists because I love a surprise!) so we were BLOWN AWAY when he played tune after tune after tune... It was truly phenomenal! I think during the whole night there was only around 5-6 songs I didn't know the words to, but the music was so catchy and upbeat it didn't stop us from dancing our socks off! I think our favourite songs were U Got The Look and When Doves Cry - Lets Go Crazy, Kiss and Raspberry Berret were all totally insanely good too ... actually this game is too hard. I don't want to spoil the surprise if you're going, but they're all incredible!!
The guy in this picture was really going for it all night - I wish I could share a picture of how un-impressed his wife was! Haha! Everyone seemed to be dancing but her which only made it more hilarious :D Today my hands hurt from clapping, my feet from dancing and my throat from singing for the whole show. It's the best hangover ever! I've seen a lot of incredible musicians (like Elton John and Dolly Parton) but I have to admit that Prince has got to be the one who's aged the greatest. Believe it or not, he can still sing every single note, both those crazy high ones and the really deep ones. He also dances better than Justin Timberlake. I'm not even kidding! The man can MOVE!! I swear he must have been frozen in time; the only thing that's changed since his Purple Rain days is his haircut!

As you can tell by the insane look in Davids eyes, it was quite the spectacle of a show; everyone was dancing in their purple outfits and Prince certainly did not disappoint with his set list. If we could do it again we would in a heartbeat! Best night out we've had in forever :D I've got a feeling Prince is going to be in my head for months... I'm pretty happy about that too!
Wow what a wonderful night, would love to have seen your purple hair
